Guy Tosses Bottle at Seal: It’s a Bad Week for Seal Vengeance
An angler threw a beer bottle at a seal because he thought it was going to take the fish from his line, a charity has said.
Images taken at the Hope’s Nose beauty spot near Torquay, Devon, on Sunday appear to show a man throwing a bottle at the animal.
The angler appears to hurl the projectile from a cliff towards the seal in the water below.

Honestly, it’s tough to get caught more red handed than this. We’ve got photo evidence of extended arm, bottle, seal’s skull. The only thing that more incriminating would have been to have seen the man’s plan for head shotting said seal.
To be honest- I don’t totally know how I feel about this yet. On one hand, if you’re trying to put us all at the risk of seal vengeance, I want you to do it in the most obvious way so that I know it’s coming. I want to know if the gentlest, cutest, most dog-like of the ocean’s creatures hates my guts and seeking revenge.
On the other hand, it’s almost disrespectful to step to seals this blatantly. I mean nothing says you’re not afraid of seal vengeance like just casually richocheting a bottle of budweiser of its noggin. Nothing says “give me your best shot” like a direct shot to your opposition’s cranium. Seal’s got a rough go of it too, man. Babies getting clubbed by bad men, everybody else making the Shark Week highlight reel for the wrong reasons. It is not easy to be a seal!
It’s a rough world for us right now; can’t go outside because Florida doesn’t want to avoid the beach, can’t watch baseball because the Marlins don’t want to avoid Florida, and can’t eat groundhogs because they have the bubonic plague. It’s a real cocktail for a bad time! So, while these circumstances are dire enough to push even the most mild mannered and respectful of humans to bean a seal with a glass bottle, I’d again remind you that it’s not in our species’ best interest.
