Old Man Who Is Much Braver Than Me Drives With 3,000 Bees Loose In His Truck
ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) - A man who came to Weaverville to pick up three packs of bees to establish hives had an interesting ride home to Waynesville.
Wally Leatherwood put the bees, which were shipped in boxes, in the back of his pickup. When he stopped to get something to eat, Leatherwood moved them to the cab of his truck and left the air on so they didn't get hot. When he came out to check on them about 15 minutes later, they were loose.
Leatherwood said he had just bought the bees and wanted to keep them alive, so he decided to get in with them to drive them home.
He moved them over into the passenger seat for his trip. But he stopped at Ken Wilson Ford to see his son at work, where this video was shot by Brandon Singleton.

What. Why. Who does this guy think he is? How drastically has life let you down for you to have to do this? This is literally the stuff of nightmares. You’re stuck in the cab of a truck, there are 3,000 bees everywhere, you’re an old guy, and you don’t have a bee suit: that’s a nightmare. This guy wasn’t even in a hurry! He got in the car and was like, “How many losers can I scare on my way home?!” That’s a guy who just wants to watch the world burn and doesn’t mind being stung by bees. I can’t even make fun of this, I’m too impressed .This man is the toughest man alive, and even if he’s not, he’s considerably braver than me. Not even considerably, he’s so much braver than me. You know how many bees it would take for me to not drive a car? One bee. Maybe even less! It would maybe just take one dead bee for me just say fuck it and call AAA.
This makes me wonder, is there just a whole group of people out there who aren’t afraid of getting stung by bees? You know, sure it hurts to them, but they don’t mind? I can’t possibly imagine that. I really really really don’t like getting stung by bees. I would say I’m always actively going out of my way to avoid getting stung by bees. If I’m drinking a coke and a bee flies by, I just leave that coke behind - bee can have it. If I’m out sitting in a garden and a bee flies by, boom I’m inside - that’s the bee’s garden. I’m a big old bee beta. I always get out of the bee’s way. The bee always wins. Clearly that’s not the case with this old guy, but still, given that it takes 5 bee stings to kill an old person I think this situation calls for a little bit of caution.
