Apprehended Cat Returned To Owner Ten Years After It Ran Away: The Tragedy Of Ollie The Cat

Apprehended Cat Returned To Owner Ten Years After It Ran Away: The Tragedy Of Ollie The Cat

(CBS) — A cat has been reunited with his family 10 years after he vanished.
It’s all because of some dedicated cat-loving volunteers and modern technology.
Oliver was two years old when he got out of his family’s home in northwest suburban Lake Zurich.
The family thought poor Oliver had been hit by a car.
On Saturday night, Kim Vonesh and other volunteers who trap cats so they can be neutered and released, saw a security guard feeding Oliver and other cats.

Full story here.

Well it was a good run, young Oliver. Pour one out for this fucking cat. Anyone who thinks this is a happy story has got to wake up. This is 2018 people; animals have feelings, intent, and are fully capable of spiteful actions. I blogged a little while ago about a cat that rode a Pepsi truck from Georgia to California, and it’s the same situation here: this cat wanted out.

Look, ten years ago this thing took off in search of freedom. It was done with house life. It was tired of bowls of milk and restless from the days of lounging on the sunny cushion. It was time to trade Meowmix for turning tricks. Time to put the mange in open range. It was time for the cat to get a taste of the wild, and to leave its domestic chains behind.

Ollie probably waited for months before finally faking his death by automobile in the early months of 2008 and striking out to find his stars.  Dare I say, before a while it seemed to be going really well, Oliver saw the world and made ends meet, relying on a kind security guard to feed him and his anarchist compatriots. That is until, like all good things, Ollie’s stretch of freedom came to an end. A tragedy the likes of young Ollie the cat is one that lies heavy on the mind.

If these folks have a kind bone in their body they’ll send this poor feline right back into the wild. This isn’t your cat any more folks! You think it’s a coincidence it was gone for ten years? You tell me! Does this look like a cat that's happy to be home?

No, it does not. You didn’t move! Your house was there the whole time! He knew where to find you! The reason he ended up forty miles away was because he wanted to put forty miles between him and whatever literal and figurative box you'd put him in. You think your "comfy" living room has shit on a scrap laden dumpster? Think again you fucks! Free Ollie.
