Passenger Gets Hot On Flight: Takes Walk On Wing: Gets Banned From Air Travel Forever
We've all experienced the frustration of being stuck on an airplane, so close to the end of the journey, yet forced to wait while some technical problem is sorted out.
But while common sense stops most people from opening the doors ourselves, one passenger in Ukraine apparently decided the best course of action was to pop open the emergency exit and take a stroll on the aircraft's wing.
A minute-long video has emerged of the woman, dressed in a white top and light pink trousers, hanging out on the wing in front of stunned onlookers at Boryspil International Airport in Kiev, before being summoned back on board by the airplane's crew.
The unidentified passenger, who was traveling on a Ukraine International Airlines flight from Antalya, Turkey to the Ukranian capital with her husband and children, was reportedly overheard saying she was "too hot" and needed to cool down.
Full story here.
There’s a number of ways to look at this story but it all leads to the same destination: this is not a person you want to take a flight with.
Flying, even Pre-Covid, is all about resisting the urge. That’s it. You fill in the rest. Resisting the urge to freak out, resisting the urge to take your shoes off, resisting the urge to drink as much ginger ale as you can in seven minutes, resisting the urge to watch the movie of the person in front of you, resisting the urge to help the flight attendant with the safety demonstration, resisting the urge to unplug the smoke detectors and commit a federal crime, and so, so much more. If you can’t resist some of those things, so be it. I’m guilty of some, you’re guilty of some, but we all find a way to resist the BIG NO NOs. If you can’t resist the big no no’s, you know, the one’s that result in alarms going off, or doors being opened, or you exiting the plane before the intended time or through a door other than the intended door, then I don’t want you on my plane.
You did this because you were hot? I’m not one to hate on that reason, because plane’s fucking suck, but if you can’t get uncomfortably on a plane without jumping ship then don’t fly! Maybe she needed a break from her husband and kids? I don’t give a shit! Don’t fly with your kids! I know there’ a whole crowd of people out there “well you’ve never been in a parent’s shoes who has to fly with kids so you don’t get it.” Yeah, but we’re not talking an extra pack of peanuts here or a pat on the back- we’re talking exiting the plane.
There’s no argument for it. Being this big of a wildcard is an immediate qualifier for the no-fly list. I’m afraid to even touch the emergency exit, like, arguably scared enough that I shouldn’t be allowed to sit there, like it’s a possibility I’d freeze and just let us all burn up instead of facing the .000000001% chance that I’m not strong enough to open the door and look like an idiot in front of everyone. Everybody is ducking their heads for emergency landings, and I’m in the most important seat on the plane tying my shoelaces together so I have a ready-built excuse. So you’re telling me I’m having a nervous meltdown over a latch I will in all likelihood never have to touch- and this lady just sees a convenient doorknob to a breath of fresh air? Some people are just built different.
